Ernest Yaw Kumi, NPP parliamentary candidate for Akwatia has agreed to bear the consequences of his actions after failing to adhere to a writ against him to be part of Tuesday’s reconstitution of the 9th parliament.
The Clerk of Parliament Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror announced the writ against the NPP candidate following a stand by the Koforidua High court restraining him from taking part in the election of the Speaker of Parliament.
However, the Minority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin on behalf of the embattled candidate indicated that, Mr Ernest Yaw Kumi is ready to bear the consequences of his actions as he was not prepared to go by the court’s restraining order.
Even though the Majority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson requested the candidate to personally comment on the matter for record sake but the minority insisted on what its leader had earlier said.
The outcome of the Akwatia seat is been contested at the Koforidua High court by both the NPP and NDC candidates, who all claim to have won the election held on December 7, 2024.
