The police in Ethiopia say at least 177 people were killed in violent protests last week, which were sparked by the killing last Monday of popular musician Hachalu Hundessa.
His murder remains unresolved, although investigations are still under way and there have been some arrests.
But the fallout continues.
More than 4,000 people have now been arrested because of their alleged involvement in the wave of violence.
At least 200 people were wounded, a spokesperson of the federal police told the BBC.
In some areas religious or ethnic minorities were targeted.
Also three TV stations are now under investigation for stoking ethnic rivalries and two have been taken off air.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has vowed to restore law and order across the country, and in some places, like the capital, Addis Ababa, calm has returned.
But the government still maintains a strict control over internet services, which have been almost entirely shutdown for more than a week.
