Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has issued a warning to “potential invaders,” advising them to reconsider any plans of attacking Ethiopia amid rising tensions with Somalia and Egypt.
Speaking at a Sovereignty Day event on September 8 in Addis Ababa, he emphasized Ethiopia’s strong defense capabilities.
Ethiopia is currently in a dispute with Somalia over a maritime agreement it signed with Somaliland, which Somalia claims as its territory.
Additionally, Egypt, which has long-standing disagreements with Ethiopia over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, is reportedly planning to send troops to Somalia as part of an African Union mission, further escalating regional tensions.
