The European Union (EU) Ambassador, and Head of the EU Delegation to Ghana, H.E. Ambassador Irchad Razaaly, has paid a courtesy call on me at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, to discuss matters of mutual interest.
The Ambassador conveyed, through me to the President and people of Ghana, the condolences of the European Union on the tragic incident of Appiatse.
He pledged the support of the Union to the Government of Ghana to bring relief to the victims and restore them to their normal lives.
Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, the minister of Lands and Natural Resources reiterated to Ambassador, Ghana’s commitment to ensure that timber on the domestic markets is sourced, processed, and traded legally, as part of the Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade (FLEGT) requirement under the Voluntary Partnership Agreement.
“The commitment of the Government of President Akufo-Addo, to ensure the restoration of our lost forest cover, through afforestation and reforestation, is total and unflinching, and together, we will deliver a green planet for current and future generations” the ministered stated.
