Former Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has been appointed as lead the technical team of Sudan national team, according to local media reports.
Appiah, who is currently the technical director of Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko has penned a three-year deal with the Sudanese Football Association.
He was named among a four-member Interim Management Committee of Kotoko to steer affairs of the club following the dissolution of the Board and Management at the end of last season.
Despite his role at Kotoko, the experience trainer is said to have accepted to lead the Sudan national team.
The 63-year-old is retraining to Sudan for a second spell having managed Khartoum Club from December 2014 to April 2017.
Appiah was relieved off his position as coach of the Black Stars in January 2020 under Kurt Okraku’s led Ghana FA.
He was the first Ghanaian coach to coach the Black Stars at the World Cup after leading the team during the 2014 Mundial in Brazil.
The Sudanese FA has decided that due to the political unrest in the country recently, the national teams will play their home matches in Egypt.
