Former Ashantigold and Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender Prince Anokye has implored the Ghana Football Association to cancel the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League.
Following President Nana Akuffo Addo’s directive, all sporting activities in the country have been put to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic that has wrecked the world.
It is uncertain whether the football season will be truncated or not due to the rapid growth of the disease.
In an interview with Angel FM, the versatile defender thrown his weight behind those clamoring for the season to be nullified.
“I think the Ghana FA must cancel the league. It is nothing if they don’t continue because many other countries have cancelled theirs. What I know is that when you go to other countries that we Ghanaians intends to copy, their revenue is high and that is why some of them are still playing”
“Some European countries have not cancelled it because they fear supporters who have bought tickets might drag them to court. So you could see some of them playing behind closed doors”
“But the case of Ghana is different because no one will sue the FA. Can the poor sue the rich? He quizzed.
