The Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Abass Abubakari Adams has sentenced a 60-year-old farmer to 12 years imprisonment for defiling the eight-year-old girl.
Adzi Apraku Mensah, the accused, pleaded guilty when he was charged for defilement and he was convicted on his plea.
Narrating the case to the court, Chief Inspector Gideon Adator, the prosecutor said the accused person is a farmer in Takorase and complainant is also a farmer residing in Apreku Village.
The prosecutor said in December 2019, the complainant and his wife left their three children including the victim in Apreku Village.
Prosecution said the accused took advantage of the absence of the complainant and sexually abused the victim on several occasions.
According to the prosecutor, a report was made to the complainant about the defilement by the victim and his elder brother.
A report was made to Asamankese Police and they sent the victim to Asamankese Government Hospital.
A medical examination proved that the victim was sexually abused on several occasions and the accused was identified by the victim upon which the police arrested the accused and sent him to court for prosecution.
