A 21-year-old farmer of Eshiem near Akroso has been sentenced to six months imprisonment in hard Labour by the Asamankese Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Abass Abubakari for stealing, unlawful entry, and causing damage to someone`s wooden door.
The accused person, Isaac Mensah pleaded guilty to three counts and was sentenced to one-month imprisonment for causing damage to a wooden door, sentenced to six months for stealing, and another six months for unlawful entry, all sentences are to run concurrently.
Detective Inspector R. Mekporsigbe, Prosecuting officer told the court that the complainant is a School proprietor and the accused is also a farmer, both reside at Eshiem, near Akrom.
He said on 2nd November 2019, the complainant traveled to Agona Swedru and had a call from the house later that thieves have invaded his room and after he returned, the complainant saw his wooden door been damaged and items such as 50 inches flat screen Samsung Television, valued at Ghs2,700, One Multi Tv decoder worth Ghs199.00, six pieces of wax print valued at Ghs1,100.00, a pistol and cash of Ghs6,500.00.
The complainant made a report to the Akroso Police on 28th September 2020 and suspected Isaac Mensah so the Police invited him to assist the investigation.
The prosecutor said the police later found some of the missing items in the accused person’s room and he confessed to stealing from the complainant’s room and denied knowledge of some of the items but was arraigned before court for prosecution.
