The Amenfi Central Constituency First-Vice Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Christopher Nsowaa, commonly known as Chairman Boozen has urged the young people to engage in agriculture since it is not a curse but can rather generate wealth for them and their families.
According to him, young people of today have become disenchanted with agriculture and rather looking for white colour jobs. This is one factor that promotes the high growth of unemployment because getting such a job is more expensive than farming.
Speaking at the 37th Farmers’ Day Celebration At Wassa Kaman in the Amenfi Central District, Chairman Boozen stated that the forefathers lived solely on agriculture, and it gave them ample opportunity to commune with nature and live a more natural and peaceful life therefore the youth can also enjoy a comfortable life by growing plants, keep livestock, rearing animals or engage in poultry farming.
“Despite the decline in interest for agriculture as a career there are still young farmers working all over the world which has enabled them to attain part of this year’s awards, therefore farming can create more opportunity for everyone when you do it and do it well,” he said.
Chairman Boozen however advised the youth in the constituency to have a passion for agriculture because the Assembly is willing and prepared to support anyone who will join the agriculture sector.
