Ghana international, Fatau Dauda has thrown his weight behind Black Stars coach, Charles Kwabla Akonnor to end the country’s trophy drought.
Ghana has failed to win a major trophy since 1982 and the Legon Cities shot-stopper believes Akonnor can win the Africa Cup of Nations that has eluded the nations some years now with the backing of the Ghanaians.
According to him, Akonnor possesses a lot of qualities and is of the view that having managed a chunk of the top teams in the country, he believes he can handle the Black Stars.
In an interview, he said, “I knew him when he was a coach for Sekondi Eleven Wise. During his time with Wise, they were playing good football. He later came to Hearts, Kotoko and Ashantigold. You should just imagine top-class teams that he has coached”
“He has been going around searching for quality players. The only thing left is for us to support him so far he is a Ghanaian and I strongly believe that he can do well for the nation. Liverpool was there waiting to win the English Premier League and at long last, they’ve won it, so why can’t Ghana win trophies” he said.
