General Captain of the Black Stars Asamoah Gyan has stated emphatically that favoritism in the selection of players into the national team is real as he believes coaches are not allowed to do their work.
Palmer, a former management member of the Black Stars recently accused top GFA officials for playing part in the selection of players to the various national teams.
Gyan, who is the all-time top scorer for the Black Stars in an interview testify that favoritism is real when it comes to the selection of players into the national team.
“Player influence is there. I have been in the game for a long time and it is not only in Ghana that you will see that, but it also happens in other parts of the world”
“Sometimes people put pressure on the coach to invite players of their choice. They don’t allow the coaches to select players on their own”
“I don’t know if something like that happened during Kwesi Appiah’s tenure but with my experience I know it happens. I know there is always pressure from above for coaches to consider some players” he said.
