At 22 years and 118 days old, Mohammed Kudus became the first Ghanaian to score a brace in a World Cup game for the Black Stars of Ghana, and the second youngest African to score two goals in a World Cup game after Ahmed Musa (21years and 254 days).
The in-form Ajax player scored twice against South Korea, leading Ghana to a 3-2 victory.
Ghana’s first two goals came in the first half, with M. Salisu scoring in the 24th minute and Mohammed Kudus scoring with a quick header in the 34th minute, both assisted by Jordan Ayew.
South Korea tied the game in the second half within three minutes (58′ and 61′) with both goals scored by Cho Gue-Sung.
Ghana took the lead again in the 68th minute when Mohammed Kudus scored his second goal of the game, thanks to a nice pass from Gideon Mensah into the opponent’s 18-yard box.
Kudus was named Man of the match for his outstanding performance.
Ghana is now second in Group F with three points after playing their second match of the tournament.
The Black Stars of Ghana will face Uruguay in their final group game on Friday, hoping to exact revenge on the Uruguayans for what happened in the quarter-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, when Luis Suarez denied Ghana progress to the next round.
Bryt Fm provided live commentary from Dadi’s Bar in Koforidua and those who correctly predicted the outcome of the match received a prestigious award.
