Filing Past the remains of former President JJ Rawlings will begin this morning at the Accra International Conference Centre where his body will be laid in a state.
Heads of Security agencies, leaders of political parties, dignatories and the general public will be allowed to view the body of the former leader beginning today.
On Sunday catholic requiem mass was held for the departed former leader.
On Tuesday, January 26, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia together with their wives would pay their last respect to the late former President.
This would be followed by that of former Presidents and their spouses, the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, and heads and former heads of constitutional bodies.
The Speaker of Parliament, former Speakers, the Chief Justice, former Chief Justices, Justices of the Supreme Court, Members of Parliament (MPs), former ministers of state and members of the diplomatic corps would also have their turn on the same day.
The main funeral event would take place at the Black Star Square in Accra on Wednesday, January 27.
Activities
The former President will be laid in state today Monday, January 25th, and Tuesday, January 26th, at the Accra International Conference Centre for various interest groups and members of the public to have an opportunity to pay their last respects.
Prior to the laying in state, the Anlo Traditional Council will host two days of traditional mourning for the departed former President who hailed from Anlo.
He will receive a full military burial service on Wednesday, January 27th.
FILE PAST
Heads of security agencies, leaders of political parties and the general public will have the opportunity to file past the mortal remains of the former President on Monday, January 25th.
On Tuesday January 26th, President Nana Akufo-Addo, the Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former heads of state and heads of constitutional bodies, the Speaker of Parliament and former Speakers will also have the opportunity to pay their respects.
At 3 pm on the same day, traditional and customary rites will be held at the foyer of the conference centre with the body of the former President still in state.
