Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister-designate, has promised to put efficiency and budgetary restraint first when using public funds.
In his vetting speech before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee, Dr. Forson emphasized that reducing waste in government spending is a crucial tactic to stabilize the country’s economy.
He reaffirmed his dedication to making sure Ghana’s resources are used wisely and said unnecessary spending needs to be reduced.
“Governance is not about borrowing and borrowing,” Dr Forson stated. “It’s time to cut the waste, and I’ll lead the charge.”
In order to obtain reasonable financing when needed, Dr. Forson also recognized the need of working with development partners.
He gave the Committee his word that although cutting waste is his first priority, he is still willing to collaborate with others to obtain inexpensive money if necessary.
His comments demonstrate a change in the priorities of fiscal management, with a focus on sustainability and responsibility.
Dr. Forson stated that his strategy seeks to address Ghana’s economic difficulties while restoring confidence in governmental financial management.
