Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has emphasized that the Finance Ministry is working hard to secure funds for the country to produce its COVID-19 vaccine to help deal with the worldwide menace.
He said a Vaccine Manufacturing and Development Committee have been formed led by Professor Frimpong Boateng to look into the process and make it a reality.
According to the President, the decision to manufacture vaccines locally is due to its shortage worldwide which makes it difficult for countries to get easy access.
President Akufo-Addo also indicated the move by the government will also provide opportunities for health professionals and pharmacists who would get training on the production of the vaccine and its related activities.
President Akufo-Addo disclosed this at Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West municipality in an interview with Obuoba FM on Tuesday morning as part of his Eastern Regional tour.
