Fire has gutted a section of dormitory block at Suhum Islamic Girls Senior High School in the Eastern Region.
The room was only converted into a storeroom on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, for the students to keep items including chop box/trunks, uniforms.
The fire outbreak which occurred last night consumed student mattresses, books, trunks, school uniforms among others kept in the room.
No casualty was recorded.
The cause of the fire is not known but officials of the Ghana National Fire Service who intervened to extinguish the fire are investigating the cause.
The Headmistress Saphia Salisu appealed to the government to come to the aid of the school to renovate the burnt facility.
