A 40-year old driver of a truck that was involved in an accident on the Tema Motorway has been extricated by Firefighters from the Motorway Fire Station.
The Howo Tipper Truck with registration number GN 3579-21 heading towards the Accra end of the motorway veered off the road, crushed into a tree and fell on its side trapping the driver and tipping off the sand it had loaded.
Ten (10) minutes after receiving the call at 0401hrs, the adroit rescuers arrived at the scene to successfully extricate the victim who was in turn handed over to the National Ambulance Service at 0630hrs and subsequently transported to the 37 Military Hospital for further treatment.While the rear part of the truck was salvaged, the head compartment suffered total damage.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
