Inland Fishermen in the Pru East District have met the District Chief Executive of Pru East District, Alhaji Abdulai Adams at Yeji to discuss pertinent issues affecting their activities.
The Fishermen Association presented their grievances on their jobs as fishermen whose activities are mainly on the Volta Lake as premix fuel been hijacked by party faithful, subsidized outboard motors, and many others.
The fishermen through their executives appealed to the DCE to consider the issues and help them, particularly with the premix fuel.
“They normally sell to non-fisher folks and the fisher folks rather buy it at a higher price which is killing our business as fishermen” they complained.
Responding to their request, the DCE Alhaji Abdulai Adams said, he knows very well the inputs needed for their work so when the new landing beach committee is inaugurated, they are going to follow the procedures laid down.
He promised to solve the premix fuel issues confronting them and also the request for subsidized outboard motors and encouraged them on their work.
The fishermen, however, refuted claims of engaging children in their activities indicating they are seeking education for their children to have a bright future.
