The government has been urged to address the ongoing energy issue by the Parliamentary Minority of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), since it is having an impact on socioeconomic activity in the country.
At a news conference held at Parliament House in Accra, Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor, the NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Yapai Kusawgu and Ranking Member of the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament, made the request.
He mentioned that the electricity generating companies had been consistently imposing load shedding since February 2nd, and that the situation was becoming worse every day.
“The very day his Excellency the President was delivering the State of the Nation Address and…., at that very period the utility companies were shedding load, the Ranking Member stated. The situation appears to be exacerbated.”

“One month of load shedding is more than enough. This is not sporadic, this is continuous, this persistent, and we think that the handlers of the power sector should do the onerous thing by informing the people of Ghana, so that they can plan ahead of time.” he said.
