A chunk of Football Owners and administrators in the Eastern Region have expressed their dissatisfaction over plans by the Regional Football Association through the Ghana Football Association to cut down the number of teams from 75 to 32 to compete in the next two years, (2021/2022) league season.
The aggrieved football owners have therefore described the Eastern Regional Football Chairman, Mr. Linford Asamoah Boadu who happens to be a GFA Ex-co member as a dictator, who always imposes his ideas on them without any formal consultation from the RFA Executive Council and football administrators in the Region.
At a consultative Zoom Cloud meeting with clubs owners and administrators on Wednesday 6th to 7th May 2020 the RFA Chairman stated that division two are required to pay GH₵300.00 for each match as the cost of officiating division two league match, he indicated that this amount is for the three official referees and the match commissioner, which according to the club owners the said amount is hefty.
Bryt FM Sports desk understands that previously home and away teams used to pay GH₵70.00 each per match as an officiating fee.
But now home and away teams are to pay GH₵100.00 each per match, again Home teams will further pay extra GH₵100 as T&T for four-match officials who comprise three referees and one match commissioner.
So in all, home teams are to pay GH₵200.00 per match, while away teams will pay GH₵100.00 for one matchmaking GH₵300.00 respectively.
According to some top football owners in the region, the aforesaid plans especially the officiating fee was solely the idea of RFA chairman without the consent of Ex-Co members as well as club officials.
