The Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Amb. Ramses Cleland, accompanied by some Directors and officers of the Foreign Ministry, paid a courtesy visit to Amb. Richard M. Akwei to mark his 100th birthday at his residence on Wednesday, 13th December, 2023.
During the visit, Amb. Cleland expressed the Foreign Minister’s warmest congratulations and presented Amb. Akwei with a bouquet of flowers to commemorate his centenary, which fell on 27th November, 2023. Amb. Cleland also praised the centenarian for his notable contribution to Ghana’s foreign policy during his active service, which is reflected in Ghana’s positive image on the international scene.
On his part, Amb. Akwei expressed his profound gratitude to the Foreign Minister, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, for the thoughtful gesture. He commended the Hon. Foreign Minister for the astounding work she is doing at the Ministry and took the opportunity to encourage officers to continue to be dedicated to the service and be diligent in the discharge of their duties, just as trailblazers.
Amb. Richard M. Akwei is the sole survivor of the Group of ten (10) pioneer Ghanaian Foreign Service Officers.
