Honourable Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has expressed profound gratitude to the People’s Republic Of China for donating medical supplies to support the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
According to her the donation, which serves as an exemplary relation between China and Africa, is anchored on the principle of sincerity, equality, mutual benefit, solidarity and common development.
Communicating to the media, the foreign minister stated “This is a clear sign of China’s sense if reciprocal solidarity for African countries in these challenging times. Indeed, in the immediate aftermath of the outbreak of the Novel coronavirus in Wuhan, African countries led the way in offering solidarity to China. The president and the vice president personally send solidarity messages to their Chinese counterparts so did I to my Chinese counterpart, Mr Wang Yi.”
Explaining the essence of this donation, Hon. Botchwey said that this donation marks the sixth year anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral relationship between Ghana and China and urged not to only view the donation as China’s humanitarian gesture towards Ghana but a manifestation of 60years of our collective effort to broaden and consolidate the bilateral relations.
Depicting effort to maintain the relationship between these two countries, the foreign minister thanked the president of China, Xi Jinping for this generosity and praised his representative in Ghana H.E. Shi Ting Wang for facilitating the speedy arrival of what she termed ‘MUCH NEEDED MEDICAL SUPPLY’ to fight this pandemic.
