In an interview this morning of Bryt Adekyee mu nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney ,Hon. Alhaji Babs Bodinga, former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly, expressed no surprise over the directive issued by H.E. John Dramani Mahama through his Vice, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, requiring Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to vacate their positions.
Speaking on the matter, Hon. Bodinga pointed to Act 20 of the Local Government Act, which clearly outlines the conditions under which MMDCEs leave office.
“The Act specifies three scenarios: resignation, termination, or revocation when there is a change in government,” he explained.
The former MCE stated that he vacated his position immediately after handing over his official vehicle, though he assured the Assembly’s coordinating team of his continued availability for assistance if required.
Reflecting on his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bodinga expressed confidence in its ability to rectify past mistakes and regain strength in future elections.
Achievements
Highlighting his tenure, Hon. Bodinga detailed key developmental projects initiated under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. “I prepared a brochure documenting all the projects undertaken during my tenure, showcasing the president’s commitment to development,” he said.
Among the achievements he cited was the construction of 17 schools at various stages of completion within the Abuakwa North Municipality, for which he personally ensured the procurement of desks. Additionally, Bodinga emphasized improvements in healthcare, stating, “All the health sectors in the municipality have been fully equipped to better serve the people.”
Hon. Bodinga commended former President Akufo-Addo for his significant contributions to the people of Abuakwa North, describing his tenure as impactful and transformative.
