President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, acting in consultation with the Council of State, has appointed the former municipal chief Executive for Akuapem North, Dennis Edward Aboagye as a presidential staffer with special duties for local government, decentralization, and rural development (LGD&RD).
The former MCE was relieved of his role as a municipal chief executive in August 2020 to the surprise of many political watchers because he was working hard to the admiration of many in the Municipality.
However, after being relieved of his post, Denis Aboagye continued to support the 2020 campaign of the NPP across the country with his experience in politics. After the election, he has also become one of the favorite national communication team members of the ruling New Patriotic Party with excellent deliveries on national issues on national television and radio stations.
Many have tipped him as a potential candidate for the national communication director position of the NPP.
Denis Aboagye is expected to be seconded to Dan Botwe, the Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development.
Dennis is a chartered marketer with a postgraduate diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK and an MBA in marketing from the Central University Graduate School of Business.
He has ten years of experience within the sales and marketing industry with exposure to fast-moving consumer goods and financial services.
He has professional experience in a variety of roles within the pensions industry, having worked with Enterprise Trustees Ltd and as a member of the Enterprise Group.
Before he joined Enterprise, Aboagye was the Eastern Regional Director of Youth Enterprises and Skills Development Centre (YESDEC), a World Bank-funded project promoting job creation. He has particular interests in business development, sales management, and brand positioning.
Aboagye also has an unblemished track record from his days in student politics at the University of Ghana, Legon, where he held various leadership positions, ranging from head of Akuafo JCR to president of the University of Ghana SRC.
