Former Hearts of Oak Assistant Coach, Hamza Obeng says the release of experienced duo Mohammed Alhassan and Fatawu Mohammed came as a shock to him.
The Phobians parted company with the experienced pair ahead of the second half of the campaign.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa Fm, Hamza Obeng asserted he was shocked over the decision by the club to release the duo.
“I was shocked by the decision of Hearts of Oak to offload Fatawu Mohammed and Mohammed Alhassan. There are some players you do not even look at their performance but rather their commitment to the club. But I do not know the event that led to that decision” he stated.
Fatawu Mohammed, who was the captain of the Phobians was shown the exit door after almost ten years at the club despite having a year left of his contract.
His deputy, Mohammed Alhassan also leaves the club after almost five years at the reigning FA Cup holders.
Meanwhile, the duo are expected to find themselves a new club before the closure of the second transfer window.
