Former Bechem United forward Hafiz Konkoni says he is under pressure to deliver at Tanzanian giants, Young Africans.
Konkoni secured a move to Yanga following a superlative performance for Bechem United in the Ghana Premier League last season. He bagged 15 goals and finished second on the topscorer chat.
The Tanzanian club turned to sign the Ghanaian attacker after losing their top striker Mayele to Egyptian club Pyramids.
In interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, Konkoni admitted pressure to fill the void left by Mayele at the club.
“The only responsibility as a striker is to score goals. Truth be told, I’m under pressure to deliver because I came in as a replacement for top striker Mayele, who has departed to join Pyramids. Mayele scored a lot of goals for Yanga before his departure and what they expect from me. My objective is to score more goals for Yanga at the end of the season and also achieve our aim”.
“I have not targeted a particular number of goals but the aim is to score more goals. There are a lot of things that goes into the season and no one can predict the future but I pray I can score in every game for the club. My prayer is to stay fit and score more” he concluded.
Konkoni has bagged two goals for the Tanzanian club since switching from the Hunters in the just ended transfer window.
