Former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Peter Kwamena Essilfie Kwamina Bartels, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ensure that all proposals under review at its ongoing National Delegates Conference are grounded in practicality and aimed at strengthening party unity.
In an interview with Channel One TV on Saturday, July 19, Mr. Bartels acknowledged the strength of many of the ideas under consideration but cautioned that their value would depend on effective execution.
“The thought behind the proposals is good,” he said. “What’s important now is to ensure their practicality and that they fulfill the purpose for which they were brought—especially to bring unity to the party and make us the winning team, because it’s ultimately about power.”
His remarks come as the NPP hosts its much-anticipated National Delegates Conference at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra. The event has attracted more than 5,500 delegates nationwide and is seen as a critical turning point for the party following its loss in the 2024 general elections.
Themed “Rebuilding Together with Our Values,” the conference is expected to deliberate on over 50 consolidated motions. According to Planning Committee Chairman Joseph Osei Owusu, these motions were distilled from more than 300 amendment proposals submitted to the party’s Amendments Committee.
