France has said it will firmly support efforts by the West African regional bloc, ECOWAS to make the military coup in Niger fail.
The French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna who met Niger’s Prime Minister Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou in Paris said: “France supports with firmness and determination the efforts of ECOWAS to defeat this coup attempt.”
General Abdourahamane Tiani, 59, who led the coup and got military training in France, has said that the junta will not budge.
