The Moderator of Presbyterian Church of Ghana Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mantey has bemoaned the widespread challenges facing Free Senior High School policy five years into implementation.
According to him, many schools are facing infrastructural challenges leading to congestion in schools.
He said Headmasters are struggling to run the schools due to delays in releasing funds but are unable to complain about fear of being punished by the government.
The moderator said “Ghanaians must be careful of free things; parents who can afford must pay’ ” the moderator Rev. Prof J.O.Y Mantey said.
Nonetheless, he commended the government for the implementation of the Free Senior High School policy which has increased access but wants the challenges fixed.
The moderator said this Friday, June 17, 2022, during the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Abetifi Presbyterian College of Education. (ABETICOE) in the Eastern region.
The Moderator stated that it is not his duty as Moderator and Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana to join the opposition to fight the government.
According to him, as a leader of the two Christian organizations, he owes it a duty to support the government in power and help it succeed.
“As a moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, it is not my duty to join opposition. No! No! No! No! I must help every government no matter which government it is to succeed and I will do my best to help the government to succeed and pray for this government that the government will succeed and do better to the glory of God”
