The Western North Regional Nassara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Abdul Rahman Alhassan has applauded the president for introducing the free Senior High School (SHS) policy saying it has reduced poverty in the Zongo communities.
Alhaji Abdul in an interview with Bryt FM’s reporter, Hamza Mohammed said, “The free SHS initiative came for the Zongo Municipal. In fact, the majority of school dropouts come from the Zongo Community. There is no government who have helped the Zongo community than the ruling government.”
“When the previous government was in office, parents especially those living within the Zongo communities have to struggle to pay their wards school fees. But it’s less of a financial burden now providing equality and quality education for Zongo children closing the educational gap that existed between children getting access to schools that seems to be for rich homes,” he added.
He, therefore, called on Zongo communities to forget about detractors who criticised the policy of the ruling government and appealed to parents to take advantage of the Free SHS and to invest in their wards education as it is the backbone of every developed country.
