Listeners of BRYT Adekyee Mu Nsem on Bryt fm have thrown shot at political leaders and traditional authorities over the increasing rate of illegal mining popularly known as galamsey in the country.
According to some listeners, successive governments and for that matter the current administration have over the years failed to address the pressing environmental issue due to Political reasons.
Some were of the view most politicians are indirectly involved in illegal mining and therefore find it difficult to even help find the canker.
Sharing their thoughts and insight on the current state menace, most listeners also accused some chiefs and traditional leaders who release lands to illegal miners without thinking about the impact it will bring on the people in the future.
“Most of our politicians and chiefs are involved in galamsey so they cannot fight it. It seems our leaders are only interested in their personal interests that the national agenda” some listeners told the host, Kwamina Sam Biney.
Activities of illegal mining has become a national security threat as most of the county’s water bodies, lands and forest reserves are been destroyed day by day.
