Fourteen (14) herdsmen have been arrested in a special operation carried out by police in connection with the alleged gang defilement of a 13-year-old girl at Gomoa Adzintem.
The special deployment of some Formed Police Unit (FPU) personnel to the area Friday night under the direction of the Acting Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akufo Dampare.
Two (2) Pump-action guns, two single-barrel guns, machetes, and other weapons were retrieved from the suspects
The suspects are in police custody at Gomoa Okyereko Police under the Gomoa Dominase District Police Command but may be transferred to the Central Regional Police headquarters.
Confirming the arrest to Bryt FM News Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah, Central East Regional (Kasoa) the Second in Command of the Central Regional Police Command ACP Oduro Ameni said they are in the process of screening the suspects arraigned them before the law court.
He said the Operation will be continued with the men deployed by the IGP.
