There is a shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the Eastern Regional Capital, Koforidua leaving both domestic and commercial consumers stranded.
Notices of” No Gas” was observed during a visit to many Gas filling stations in New Juaben North and South Municipalities.
Some of the operators said they run short of supply since last week Friday.
Worst affected by this shortage are taxi drivers who power their vehicles with LPG.
The situation has forced many of the drivers to park their cars in anticipation that the situation is mitigated.
However, about 100 taxi drivers were seen in the long queue along the Cemetery stretch of the Kasadjan Highway scrambling to fill their cars with few supplies received by the gas filling station Monday afternoon.
There has been a nationwide shortage of LPG after Gas Tanker Drivers Union declared a sit-down strike on Thursday, October 29, 2020.
Subsequently, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations in a statement released on Sunday, November 1, 2020, said the situation is expected to be brought back to normalcy as the Gas Tanker Drivers Union has called off the strike to resume full scale working after a stakeholders meeting was held.
