The LEAP Management Secretariat (LMS) has organized a workshop focused on the reassessment review of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme. The workshop brought together key stakeholders and the Ministry’s Management to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the LEAP program.
The LEAP programme plays a crucial role in addressing poverty and promoting social protection for vulnerable individuals and households across the country.
As part of the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring the programme’s efficiency and relevance, it is essential to conduct periodic reviews and assessments.
During the workshop, participants engaged in in-depth discussions and analyses of various aspects of the LEAP programme, including but not limited to:
- Programme implementation strategies
- Targeting mechanisms
- Beneficiary selection criteria
- Monitoring and evaluation frameworks
- Impact assessment methodologies
The overall objective of the workshop was to identify strengths, challenges, and areas for improvement within the LEAP programme.
The Chief Director for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Afisah Zakariah, noted that the LEAP programme stands as a beacon of hope in the country’s effort to combat poverty and provide essential social protection to the most vulnerable persons in society.
She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that the programme continues to fulfill its noble objectives across the country.
As part of the road map to the conductof the reassessment, LMS together with GNHR agreed on timelines with clear defined roles and responsibilities to execute the reassessment especially in the remaining Districts in the five Regions of the North.
