Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President George Afriyie has embraced the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding his disqualification from the 2023 GFA presidential election.
Afriyie was disqualified from contesting incumbent, Kurt Okraku during the elections back in October 2023 for misinterpreting the criteria for contesting the GFA Presidency.
After seeing his appeal dismissed, Afriyie went ahead to protest against his disqualification at CAS.
On Monday, CAS announced it judgement regarding Afriyie’s disqualification and upheld the Election Committee’s decision.
And according to Afriyie, he has accepted CAS ruling in good faith.
“I have today received the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) regarding my appeal against the Decision of the Elections of the Ghana Football Association”
“The CAS, in their decision have upheld the decision of the Election Committee of the GFA”
“I take the decision in good faith. I express my sincere gratitude to everyone who supported me during this period” he wrote on social media.
