Menstrual Hygiene Day is celebrated on May 28, every year since 2014. The day is a global advocacy platform that brings together non-profits, government agencies, individuals, the private sector, and the media to promote good menstrual health and hygiene (MHH) for all girls and women.
The 2023 event was commemorated under the theme “We Are Committed” on Friday, 26th May 2023, at the GNAT hall.
Leadership of the GES SAID “We are committed to creating a Ghana where every girl and woman have access to good menstrual health and hygiene”.
Present at the event were government officials,development partners, NGOS, the Private Sector, Religious and Traditional Leaders, the media, teachers, and school children.
The Deputy Director General in Charge of Quality and Access represented the Director General, while the Director Pre-Tertiary Education Directorate represented the Hon. Minister of Education.
There were regional, district, and School Level activities to commemorate the day.
GES is therefore calling on all relevant stakeholders and the general public to be committed to issues relating to menstruation.
