Former Ghana international Charles Taylor has casted doubts about the capabilities of Black Stars coach Otto Addo following the teams struggles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Black Stars has struggled in the qualifiers so far, securing only two points from their opening three games in Group F.
Ghana’s chances of securing a spot for the upcoming AFCON tournament hit another rock after failing to secure maximum points against Sudan on Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars struggles in the qualifiers, which include a loss to Angola and draws against Niger and Sudan, have sparked concern among fans.
Speaking to Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt FM’s Adekye Mu Nsem, Taylor expressed Otto Addo is not a coach that can be relied on considering his performance.
“I blame coach Otto Addo because he couldn’t get answers to the Sudanese defensive approach. He should have attacked them to get what he wants but he didn’t. Otto Addo is simply not a good coach and cannot be relied on”
“His substitution has never yielded any positive results for the team and for that reason, he doesn’t deserve to be our head coach. If we keep playing these same players, we will get the same results. There’s no competition in the team. He always stick to his first eleven players selected and doesn’t see the need to make substitution for fresh legs to come into the game”
Ghana will need to put on a much-improved performance in their upcoming game if they are to keep their AFCON 2025 hopes alive.
The West African powerhouse will travel to Tripoli, Libya to battles it out in the return leg against Sudan.
Otto Addo and his charges will have to negotiate for a positive result to keep chances of securing a spot at AFCON 2025 alive.
