The Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the National Identification Authority, Mr Ntim Ofori, has said the introduction of the Ghana Card is the easiest way to track and trace fraudsters in the country.
According to him, the Ghana card will be easy for the Telecoms and NCA as it contains biometric details including fingerprint, picture, eyries and more information about every Ghanaian.
Speaking in an interview with Nhyiraba Nartey Solomon of Bryt FM, Mr Ntim Ofori said that his outfit has opened permanent offices in all the municipal and districts across the Eastern Region.
Mr Ntim Ofori averred that the deadline for the sim card registration has been caused by pressure in the various offices of the NIA as some people are yet to receive their cards.
He advised Ghanaians to visit any nearby office to partake in the Ghana Card registration as the National Communication Authority has extended the deadline for the sim card registrations exercise to 30th September 2022.
‘‘Everyone who misplaced his or her card must pay 30GH for a new replacement,’’ Mr Ntim Ofori disclosed.
Speaking on statistical data, Mr Ntim Ofori said that they have registered 131524 people from November 2021 to July 2022, adding that 179059 applicants have received their cards in line with the mass registration.
He revealed that 6544 cards have been replaced as a result of damage, lost and missing cards in the region.
Mr Ntim Ofori however, indicated that registration of Ghana cards is free in all offices for every Ghanaian in the country.
