The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has revealed a lot of party members have been denied the Ghana Card registration by the National Identification Authority (NIA).
According to the Chairman of the NDC, issuance of the National Identification Authority is flout with a lot of difficulties which has made it impossible for some Ghanaians to acquire their cards after several months of registration.
He said that “A lot of our members have been denied access to the Ghana Card in some parts of the country”.
He indicated there are several people whose cards are not released to them and some are being denied the opportunity to register.
‘‘The card Ghana issue is critical for the success of the NDC in the upcoming 2024 elections,’’ Mr Ofosu Ampofo said at the 2nd Annual Lawyers conference.
Underlining the measures to enable all the NDC members to have access to the Ghana card, Mr Ofosu Ampofo pleaded with the NDC legal team to assist the members to acquire their Ghana Card through any rightful legal means since the NIA has turned death ears to their plea.
He again alleged that there were issues of human rights abuses which were targeted against NDC members in the strongholds.
