Ghana coach Chris Hughton has vowed to pay attention to the Ghana Premier League after snubbing home-based players in his latest call up.
Hughton handed call up to 25 players for the Angola clash, with no local player making the cut. The exclusion of home-based players has raised some eyebrows in the country.
At his unveiling, the former Brighton boss promised to spend more time in the country to monitor the Ghanaian top-flight.
“I will be spending more time in Ghana. I will be watching more games. I am constantly being made aware of players who are doing well. I’ll be paying more attention to [GPL] games because it is important that we have a strong national league.” he said.
Hughton was unveiled on Monday morning at the SG Mall in Kumasi, and will be in charge of the national team until December 2024.
He will be assisted by Didi Dramani and George Boateng, who signed similar deals with the Ghana FA.
