Michael Blackson, a Ghanaian-American comedian, declined requests from some of his supporters to run for president of Ghana.
He stated in a tweet that he doesn’t think the time is opportune to do so.
“Ghana I appreciate this but not right now, I don’t even know all the 16 regions of Ghana, lol,” Mr Blackson wrote after sharing a screenshot from a fan.
The comedian added that he officially became an American citizen not long ago, thus, would like to enjoy that for a while.
This is due to the fact that if he were to run for any political office in Ghana, he would have to renounce his other citizenship.
Mr Blackson has previously been asked to run for president of Ghana.
The comedian declared in 2022 that he would think about a presidential bid in at least 12 years.
He claims that he would think about running for president at that time because he feels the populace would need his assistance.
