Ghana football legend Abedi Ayew Pele has predicted an imminent Africa Cup of Nations success for the Black Stars.
The West African powerhouse are in search of their fifth AFCON title, having last won in 1982, their fourth title in the competition.
The Black Stars have come close to ending the trophy drought in the last decade, 2010 Angola losing to Egypt in the finals and in 2015 Equatorial Guinea- Gabon as the Stars lost to Ivory Coast on penalty shootout.
In an interview, Abedi Pele, who bagged three African Footballer of the Year awards before retirement was clear the Black Stars will soon win the covetous trophy.
“Well, we will win. There will be our chances. We’ve been to finals three times and I think our chance will be maybe this time or in the next four years we will be there” he said.
Meanwhile, the 2023 AFCON tournament will be staged in Ivory Coast from January 13, 2024, through to February 11, 2024., where they will face off Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde in Group B.
