Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has expressed his displeasure about the exclusion of Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru from the Black Stars squad ahead of the blockbuster World Cup play-off against Nigeria.
In a post sighted by Mybrytfmonline.com, the all-time top scorer indicated Ashimeru is currently the best midfielder in Ghana after Thomas Partey and has therefore described the technical team’s decision to exclude him as ‘nonsense.’
“This guy Majeed Ashimeru is the best midfielder in Ghana, after Thomas Partey, period. I have kept quiet on this but this nonsense must stop. Smh,” Gyan tweeted.
The former Red Bull Salzburg star has been on top form since breaking into the Purple and Blue starting 11 early February.
Anderlecht has won 5 and drawn 1 out of the 6 games played so far with Ashimeru playing an instrumental role in the club’s current performance.
He was explosive when Anderlecht secured qualification to the Belgian Cup final and will hope to clinch the title next month.
