Ghana legend Michael Essien reportedly turned down the opportunity to serve as an assistant coach of the Black Stars.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) recently announced Otto Addo as the new head coach of the Black Stars, replacing Chris Hughton following the teams poor showing at the 2023 AFCON.
The former Ghana international will be deputized by Joseph Laumann, John Paintsil, Fatawu Dauda.
Reports suggest Otto Addo approached the former Chelsea star for the assistant coaching job.
But Essien, who is currently the assistant coach of FC Nordjaelland rejected the Black Stars job.
Essien told Otto Addo that he was not ready for the job at the moment.
Otto Addo has been offered an initial 32-month deal with an option of another 24-month deal.
He is expected to be in the dugout for Black Stars’ friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda later this month
