Great Olympics coach Annor Walker has called on Ghana Football Association to suspend the domestic top-flight due to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The continental showpiece commenced last Sunday and is expected to end on February 6, 2022.
However, Walker who believes the AFCON has taken the shine of the Ghana Premier League has advocated for the suspension of the league.
According to him, the suspension of the league will help Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars at the continental showpiece.
In an interview with Sylvester Ntim of Bryt FM, Annor Walker said, “Plying AFCON and league at the same time is worrying. How I wish I could see my supporters at the stadium is not happening anymore because of the tournament. Due to the AFCON, a lot of our supporters are unable to come to the stadium to cheer us up. The attention now is divided, it is a problem to me”
“I wish the FA suspend the league for us to support the Black Stars at the AFCON but I think the calendar won’t permit us so we will manage it,” he said.
