Ghana has so far received 966,850 Coronavirus vaccines to vaccinate some selected people in the Country.
Also, a total of 755,686 people have received their first jabs of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines as of 15th April 2021 with the Greater Accra Region having the highest number of persons.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye explained that the delay in the procurement of additional COVID-19 vaccines is occasioned by the global scramble for vaccines and the unavailability of same.
Ghana has recorded a total of 771 deaths related to coronavirus as nine patients are in critical and 30 in severe condition.
There has been a significant decline in covid19 cases since mid-February from over 8,000 to 1,334 as of 15th April 2021.
A total of 91,709 confirmed cases had been detected out of 1,047,048 tests conducted and 89,604 patients have been discharged.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) says its initial vaccination policy of having the second dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine administered within an eight-week window period has been extended to 12-weeks.
This, according to the GHS, is to allow more people to get ready for the second dose deployment and ease of deployment.
