Ghana are set to miss out on Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo after earning call up to the England national team.
Mainoo, who is enjoying an amazing debut season with the Red Devils has been handed his first call up to the Three Lions, derailing Ghana’s chances of winning the midfielder.
The fast-rising midfielder was initially called to the England U21 team but upon second thought, the 18-year-old has been drafted into Gareth Southgates squad.
Mainoo has already joined England teammates at St. George’s Park as they prepare for the March international break games.
England will play Brazil and Belgium and Mainoo will hope to debut for the Three Lions.
Born in Stockport to Ghanaian parents, Mainoo made his first Manchester United start against Everton in November and has since made a further 19 appearances.
He scored his first goal for the club in an FA Cup fourth-round win at Newport at the end January.
