Ghana international Andre Ayew made his first appearance for NAC Breda in the Dutch Eredivisie at the weekend after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Ayew, who had been out of competitive action since May 2025 finally made a return to pitch, helping NAC Breda to secure an all-important point at FC Groningen.
The former Black Stars forward was introduced in the 57th-minute mark, as NAC Breda held their opponent to a pulsating goalless draw.
After a long absence, Ayew secured a move to the Yellow-Blacks on a short-term contract with an option to extend.
Despite limited preparation time, the former Ghana captain delivered a respectable showing in his 33-minute cameo, registering 20 touches, one shot, one successful dribble, and winning several ground and aerial duels as he added experience and composure to NAC’s attacking play.
Ayew will be hoping for more minutes as NAC Breda gears up for their next game against NEC Nijmegen at the Rat Verlegh Stadion.
The return to action is a significant step for Ayew as he aims to regain full match sharpness and put himself back in contention for a Black Stars call-up ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
