Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. George Mireku Duker during his tour at the facilities at PMMC’s Accra headquarters indicated that Ghana will start exporting gold with its embossment and hallmark in October of this year.
According to him, the world-class gold refinery which is 90% completed will generate adequate revenue for the government, increase investor trust in Ghana’s gold, create employment, and strengthen Ghana’s position as Africa’s leading gold producer.
He also stated that the government is dedicated to reforming PMMC and would strive to tackle the various difficulties that the corporation is facing, including the legacy debt.
Nana Akwesi Awuah, Acting Managing Director of PMMC, stated that the completion of the Gold Refinery will result in improved income flow for the firm and place it in a good position to undertake further projects to move it ahead.
Hon. George Mireku Duker’s visit included becoming acquainted with himself and evaluating the company’s activities.
