Ghana U-20 star, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been handed his debut call up into the senior national soccer team, Black Stars for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers later this month.
Ghana will lock horns with South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in the fifth and sixth round of the qualifiers in Group C.
Earlier reports in the media suggested that Ghana coach CK Akonnor will invite some players from the Black Satellites for the upcoming qualifiers, emulating the strategy that brought the country success at the 2010 World Cup.
However, the 16-year-old midfielder was singled out as the tournament’s poster boy with his cultured left foot, soccer IQ and dexterity has been invited.
He gained global attention when he scored a Puskas Award contender in Ghana’s 4-0 win over Tanzania in their opener.
Fatawu Issahaku dazzled as Ghana’s Black Satellites conquered Africa. The 16 year old scored twice to help Coach Karim Zito’s side become the first Ghanaian team to annex the ultimate at that level since 2009.
Currently playing for lower Division side, Steadfast FC he is expected to join the Black Stars camp this week before preparations are wrapped up.
